First-ever electric car in Pakistan is the way forward

Recent launch of electric cars this month in Lahore is a good step by government of Pakistan, especially when the petrol prices are jacked up.

Government has executed its National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) by launching Pakistan’s first-ever electric car in collaboration with Chinese motor company.

The electric car Z100 would run 300KM on a single battery charge and will cost around PKR 1.9-2 million. This would have considered a better step if there would have 24/7 electricity. Here people are suffering from gas and electricity loadshedding every now and then, and in such conditions news of electric cars hasn’t done wonders.

Yes, if we produce adequate amount of electricity like other developed countries then electric cars can pave the way for changes in commuting and transport system for Pakistanis too. Also, we need to pay its way to keep electric cars going.

Amid tax hikes on each and every goods, it is relevant to point out that the prices are inclusive of withholding tax.

Braggadocio! Since the govt. is inclined to making sure no commodity should remain without taxes, therefore, launch of electric cars in Pakistan maybe going to lose its way.
