‘Pervez Musharraf turned down the govt offer of a secret deal’

Musharraf Trial

ISLAMABAD – The associate and lawyer of former President General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf, Ahmed Raza Kasuri, claimed lately that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s led federal government attempted to strike a secret deal with his client but Musharraf refused it.

According to the televised details, Kasuri maintained that federal government wanted Musharraf to sign a confidential deal of staying out of country for at least five years.

Yesterday, after consulting with the federal ministers and leaders of other political parties, Nawaz Sharif finally decided not to remove former military strongman’s name from Exit Control List (ECL). He maintained that the name was put on the watch on the order of Supreme Court and federal government had no authority now to do otherwise.

However, yesterday, PakistanTribe reported that Nawaz Sharif only wanted his face saving in the pertaining issue. According to a senior journalist and media personality ‘Javed Chaudhry’ that middle way would be removing Musharraf’s name from ECL through a court order.

Moreover, commenting over the allegations of Kasuri, the federal information minister Pervaiz Rsahid said “Ahmed Raza Kasuri tried to gain attention of former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf by telling a lie.”

The minister further said that the government made no offer to Musharraf, claiming that the former president ousted Kasuri from his defence counsel team that is why he lied to gain the attention of Musharraf.

PakistanTribe reported earlier that the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was divided into two groups over the issue of removing former president Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

PakistanTribe also reported that the advocate Farogh Naseem had convened a meeting with Pervez Musharrafin which he informed the former military strongman that his name would be removed from ECL within a week.
