Najam Sethi vows to hold Pakistan cricket team accountable for poor show

WEB DESK – The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had vowed not to slide under the carpet the poor show of performance by cricket team against West Indies.

Najam Sethi maintained on Wednesday that there will be accountability in the team and explanation would be sought from players over the defeat in the World Twenty20 match against West Indies.

Talking to media a day after Pakistan’s humiliating defeat in a crucial match against West Indies, Sethi said “We should not forget the fact that Pakistan is number 5 in world T20 rankings while two top teams like Australia and England are also out of the tournament.”

Interestingly, just before the stat of global tournament, Shoaib Akhtar – former fast bowler – maintained that teams like Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies cannot face the spin bowlers. Pakistan holds the best spin-fast bowlers’ combination. We have world class batsman who can destroy any bowling attack and all this is evident from their recent performances.

Shoaib also said that Pakistani batsmen must keep themselves calm under pressure. The overall concept of Pakistani cricket team in the world is about their inability to chase a target. But fortunately in last few matches Pakistani batsmen had proved it wrong. Now it all depends on how efficiently they could keep it up.
