ISLAMABAD – Javed Chaudhry, senior anchor with links in power corridors, maintained that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants ‘face saving’ and ‘middle way’ to remove Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL), as premier summoned all federal ministers to make any decision.

The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned the federal ministers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the second time in last 24 hours to hold consultations over Pervez Musharraf’s application to remove his name from ECL.

Federal minster and leader of PML-N Khawaja Saad Rafigue categorically said that Musharraf was a criminal and must not be allowed to go away just like that. However, Javed Chaudhry believed that after consultation with military’s top brass the premier is seeking a middle way.

According to Javed Chaudhry, that possible middle way could be the removal of Musharraf’s name from ECL through the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

PakistanTribe reported earlier today that present Army Chief General Raheel Sharif wanted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to let go of former president Pervez Musharraf.

PakistanTribe, yesterday, reported that the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was divided into two groups over the issue of removing former president Pervez Musharraf’s name from Exit Control List (ECL).

PakistanTribe also reported that the advocate Farogh Naseem had convened a meeting with Pervez Musharrafin which he informed the former military strongman that his name would be removed from ECL within a week.

Moreover, the special court – giving verdict over plea to travel abroad – said that only government could decide on Musharraf’s travel outside Pakistan as it was the government that included his name in the ECL. Court also mentioned Musharraf has not been barred to move free. He is not under arrest. Government cannot stop him from travelling abroad only by considering his under process trial in the Special Court.
