ISLAMABAD – The Director General of country’s top spy agency, Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI), avoided the court hearing in Islamabad High Court (IHC) upon which the Justice Riyaz Ahmed Khan warned that ‘Do not ridicule the judicial system’.
According to the details, the DG ISI Lt General Zaheerul Islam had been summoned to appear before the IHC alomost six weeks ago in a pending case of missing person.
Instead of appearing before the court, General Zaheer only sent an affidavit in the court through a subordinate, Colonel Fayaz, stating that the said person was not in the custody of ISI.
“We don’t take pleasure in summoning Director General ISI but nobody appears despite getting 6-week time, don’t ridicule judicial system” the judge was quoted as saying.
The IHC disposed of the case ruling that the issue needs to be further investigated and evidenced. The ruling said the court have no authority to order investigation and seek evidence as a commission was already working on the missing persons issue.
The DG ISI General Zaheer was also sent a summon to appear before Lahore High Court (LHC)‘s Rawalpindi bench on March 27 in somewhat the same case of another missing person.
