Pervez Musharraf got out of ICU to appear for high treason trial

Musharraf Trial

ISLAMABAD – Despite reports of being treated in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to disturbed blood pressure (BP), former president Pervez Musharraf appeared before the Special Court in high treason trial.

Musharraf made a dramatic dramatic and unexpected appearance on Monday morning for the second time since the Special Court convened the high treason trial.

Until yesterday, Musharraf’s lawyers have been reporting that his medical guardians would not allow him to travel to court due to his ailing health.

Musharraf is likely to face indictment in the high treason case today.

Musharraf had to rush to the AFIC on Jan 2 after he suffered chest pain while he was on his way to the special court. Initially, he was kept in the ICU but was later shifted to a room.

Earlier, after being rejected on all forums, Musharraf finally approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan to transfer his high treason trial into a military court. However, the Supreme Court too rejected his plea.

The ongoing high profile high-treason trial had cost at least Rs 20.501 million as the amount was paid in terms of fee to government lawyers. However, the high treason trial was still hanging at cross road as lawyers of the Musharraf is engaging prosecution team and Special Court in issues like eligibility of the Special Court to hear the trial and neutrality of the prosecutors.
