After WhatsApp, Facebook purchases another tech firm with $2 billion – rumours and reality

facebook-oculus-vr-purhaseAfter purchasing WhatsApp with a record 19 billion dollars, Facebook has acquired another tech frm Oculus VR, a virtual reality technology company. 

Soon after the purchase, rumours have been rolling in about the $ 2 billion dollar acquisition.

The virtual reality firm has very much similar product like Google Glass. So the move could to dent the search giant in this field too.

According to The New York Times, the world’s largest social network is planning to redesign Oculus’ hardware to rebrand it with Facebook theme and logo.

However, Facebook has declined the report.

The network spokesperson was of the view that the report was ‘not true’ and ‘not in the spirit of our relationship’ with Oculus VR.

Making the acquisition, Facebook said:

Oculus will maintain its headquarters in Irvine, Calif., and will continue development of the Oculus Rift, its groundbreaking virtual reality platform.
