Abducted Iranian guards never entered here, Pakistan tells Iran

Pakistan Iran

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has categorically denied the presence of abducted Iranian border guards inside its territory, mainly Balochistan, as one of the five guards has been pronounced dead by the Iranian authorities.

In an official communique issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office on Wednesday, it was maintained that the Government of Pakistan stands ready to act on any credible and actionable intelligence made available to it.

The communique further stated that “Our investigations have neither corroborated nor established the entry into or presence within Pakistani territory of the Iranian border guards.”

While feeling sorry over the loss of Iranian guard’s life Pakistan formally condemned the terrorist act and shared grief with the families of martyred and other abducted border guards.

In the wake of the border incident, the Government of Pakistan had extended all possible support in tracking the whereabouts of the missing Iranian border guards. In such one effort, a joint commission on Pak-Iran border situation was established that convened a joint session of both sides’ representatives on February 19 and 20 earlier this year.
