Abducted anti-polio campaigner murdered in cold blood


WEB DESK – Another blow to polio campaign in Khybe Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) came as one female polio campaigner was abducted from her house and then found dead in the outskirts of provincial capital.

According to the televised and reported details of the tragic incident, at least eight gunmen stormed the house of deceased lady health worker in Chamkani area near Peshawar around 2 am in night and taken her with them at gunpoint.

When family members of the then abducted health worker approached local policemen, they as usual delayed the process of lodging an FIR. Until morning, the family members of then abducted woman and local residents of Camkani blocked the Islamabad-Peshwar motorway. The traffic on the motorway remained suspended for good two hours until one senior police officials assured the protesters to recover the then abducted lady health worker within three days.

However, it was until recent that police confirmed to find the dead body of abducted lady health worker near Gulozai area of the KPK. Further probe of the incident was underway.
