KARACHI: Pakistan’s leading biscuit manufacturing company, English Biscuit Manufacturers (Pvt.) Limited (EBM), has come forward to support the Women’s Leadership Conference being organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to be held on March 20, 2014 in Lahore.
The conference, with its theme ‘Women Hold up Half the Sky’ aims to highlight successful women leaders and entrepreneurs across different sectors along with their professional and social contributions. It will serve as a platform for Pakistani women leaders to come together, network and develop linkages.
Due to prevailing social and cultural norms, women in Pakistan face serious challenges in pursuing personal and professional development. Through a combination of keynote addresses and roundtable discussions, the Conference will provide successful women leaders the opportunity to share their experiences and learning with the audience, and interact with them to discuss the common challenges women face.
The Conference will serve as a catalyst for aspiring women leaders, providing them with wisdom and insights to find solutions to the pressing issues confronting women. Through their interactions with pioneering, influential women professionals and leaders, we hope that this next generation will further the successes of women in the workplace and increase women’s leadership and representation in the Pakistani workforce.
Speaking about EBM’s support to the Conference, Dr Zeelaf Munir, Chairperson of the Executive Management Board of EBM said: “My own experiences, and those of highly capable and intelligent women professionals all around us, highlight the point that that women never stop learning. We need to hold on to this quality and foster it in those around us. I strongly believe that the road towards self-improvement and development is limitless – but one must sustain this drive to earn the many rewards at the end.”
The welcome address at the Conference will be given by Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary, TDAP, while the keynote address will be by Josette Dijkhuizen, Women’s Representative in the Netherlands to the United Nations General Assembly. A special address by Maryam Nawaz is also scheduled.
