SC grants eight months for LG polls in Punjab, Sindh

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has concluded a long standing case regarding local bodies election in Sindh and Punjab by granting both provinces time till November 15 2014. 

Earlier today, the government of Punjab sought four months time period from the Supreme Court in order to streamline post local bodies election procedures in the province.

Advocate general of Punjab Mustafa Ramdey told the judiciary that “It will take at least four months to prepare a legal draft regarding local bodies election and getting it approved. Local bodies elections will be completed in ten steps.”

The only province so far which had held the local bodies election is Balochistan.

The bench that granted almost eight month’s time period for Sindh and Punjab provinces was headed by the chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.
