Magnetic ink not to be used in LB polls, says ECP | PakistanTribeISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided of not using magnetic ink in upcoming polls of Local Bodies (LB) in the country.

The DG of Election Commission, Sher Afgan, has said this day in Islamabad that the NADRA had suggested the ECP to skip use of magnetic ink in the LB polls and that proposal has been approved.

While suggesting about skipping the use of magnetic ink, the NADRA Chairman assured that the thumb impressions, taken by the common ink, could be also verified, told Sher Afgan.

The PCSIR has been instructed to improve quality of the common ink, added the DG of Election Commission.

Instructions have been given to Additional Sectary ECP to prepare good quality ink for the Elections.

A combined reported by PCSIR and NADRA was submitted during an important meeting of the Commission.

Earlier, the ECP had asked the PCSIR for making magnetic ink for thumb impression of the voters. On the other the commission is mulling over the strategy of timely printing of the ballot papers for the LB polls.
