ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has turned down the recent controversial assertions made by the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and fully endorsed the existing family laws of Pakistan.
According to a press release on party’s official website, the announcement came in the core committee’s meeting where the part higher-ups were gathered and Imran Khan himself was presiding the session.
Press release stated that “The core committee fully supports the existing family laws which are in accordance with Islam and there is nothing contrary to Islam in these laws. These laws have stood the test of time and provided protection and security to girls and women.”
Almost a week ago, CII’s head Maulana Sheerani announced that the family law of Pakistan that bar children marriages, had no Islamic backing.
