Former PTI leader Adnan Randhawa has launched his own party

ISLAMABAD – Former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Adnan Randhawa has launched his own political party, the Aam Admi party of Pakistan (AAPP), after departing ways from ‘Insafiyans’ earlier this month.

Adnan Randhawa

Adnan Randhawa, former bureaucrat in foreign services turned politician was the applicant of National Assembly in May 2013 general elections for the party ticket. He was eventually denied not once but twice both in general elections and and bi-polls when Imran Khan gave tickets to Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Asad Omar respectively.

However, the somewhat famous column writer and analysis, retained the office of deputy information secretary of PTI after being twicely rejected the party ticket from contesting elections from the party’s strong hold.

In his latest Op-Ed, Randhawa writes: “Politics in Pakistan will remain a forbidden area for the common man as the right of running the establishment has been reserved for feudal lords, nawabs, sardars and other cronies of the establishment.”

While referring to what he calls ‘Aam Admi Phenomenon’, Randhawa says “The common man, if given proper training, guidance and encouragement by the so-called leaders claiming to be champions of the aam aadmi’s cause, could have emerged on the national political landscape and waged a war against the woes of corruption, bad governance and enslavement by foreign powers. Only a leadership that has emerged from the grass roots through a genuine, democratic and merit-based political process can fix the woes that are haunting us.”

According to Randhawa’s close associates, he remained a staunch critique of Imran Khan’s pro-Taliban stance within the party. Even his resignation from the party’s basic membership came after Imran Khan’s incompetency of not criticizing Taliban after Islamabad Courts were attacked.
