As most of relief providing agencies and government itself are there to help out Thar people, who – about 100 thousand or above – have been migrating to nearby cities, there are chances that these measures would prove temporary as was in past.
Experts suggest that proper plans about future rescue should be chalked out.
They suggest these three measures at least to save future disaster like this.
1. Initiating projects as was did in Cholistan Desert, situated in Punjab where same type of situation every year. The projects include setting up small ponds, pools and reservoirs to save every drop of water to be used in dry weather.
2. Making hospitals in schools, built during Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim’s era, in evening to treat the children usually become victims of such weather.
3. Giving every family a pair of goats, wheat, some dry food – from the package of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s package of Rs. 1 billion, which will cater their needs on daily basis instead of putting them on track of daily help food.
