Pakistan signs deal for Mega Power Generation Upgradation

Mangla Dam extension in power generation by USISLAMABAD – Power starving country is likely to get a power boost as United States will provide $ 72 million to expand Manga Dam electricity generation capacity.

Pakistan and US, in this regard, signed an agreement to refurbish and improve Manga Dam in Mirpur area of Kashmir.

After the upgradation, the generation capacity will increase by 90 MegaWatt at the electricity plant of the dam.

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Syed Raghib Abbas Shah says that Manga Dam’s capacity will be enhanced from present 1000 MW to 1310 MW.

The addition will be a part of adding low cost power to the national grid, he further said.

Pakistan is facing around 4000 MW electricity shortfall and in summer lives become misereble across the country without power.
