EOBI suspends officer on FIA’s request

KARACHI: Chairman Employees Old age Benefit Institution (EOBI) Ayub Shaikh has suspended Assistant Director Awais Behram. He took action on the letter from Director Federal Investigative Agency (FIA).

Director F.I.A Zafar Awan had requested EOBI to take disciplinary action against Behram through a letter (No. DIZ/AHTC/R-8/2014/972-73) last month.

Awais Behram during his un-informed absence from his position in EOBI visited Islamabad Airport allegedly to participate in a human trafficking incident. Awais Behram has served at Islamabad International Airport in the past and was sent back to his parent department (EOBI) on Supreme Court’s order. On his visit to the airport he helped two foreign national women to enter Pakistan without any documentation to work with a prostitution ring.

Sources informed that Behram came back to Karachi after he was nominated in F.I.A’s (F.I.R.) No. 35/2014. However, upon receiving a notice from EOBI he reported back for duty and stating that he has acquired Bail before Arrest therefore his joining must be approved by the department.

Chairman EOBI, upon receiving the letter from F.I.A, not only ignored Awais Behram’s joining request but initiated disciplinary action against him. Sources informed that the accused has high profile connections that also helped him on Islamabad Airport.
