KARACHI – Karachi operation has entered in its final and decisive phase, Law enforcers are conducting successful raids on intelligence reports while more than 75 security personnel have been killed during the efforts of making the city peaceful, it has been learnt to Pakistan Tribe.
According to details after two successful phases of Karachi operation, now law enforcers are busy in curbing the terrorism in the city in third phase. Along with Rangers and Karachi police, intelligence agencies are playing their active role.
Operation is going in accurate directions as more than 15,671 suspects have been arrested so far while dozens of personnel of law enforcers are also made target .
According to a 5-month report on the Karachi targeted operation, 79 police officers have been killed so far since the start of the operation. The report was presented to the Inspector General of Sindh Police.
The targeted operation started in Karachi after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the metropolitan in September in a bid to devise a strategy to curb violence.
With the provincial government on board, the prime minister had given a go-ahead to the paramilitary force to conduct raids and arrest criminals with the help of the police. Subsequently, the operation began on September 7.
The report stated that in September last year, 15 police officers were killed during the operation, 12 in October, 11 in November and 11 in December, further adding that in 2014 25 police officers lost their lives in January during the operation and five in February so far.
Also, 15,671 suspects were arrested while a total of 804 encounters and 10,254 raids have taken place up till now, the report said.
Security officials have also recovered 282 kilogrammes of explosives, 167 hand grenades and explosive devices, and seven rocket and rocket launchers so far, the report added.
In addition, the report also said that 3,430 pistols, 84 kalashnikovs, three light machine guns and four suicide jackets were also seized during the operation up till now.
On the other hand, Rangers conducted raids in various parts of Karachi and arrested at least 80 suspected criminals on Thursday.
Many of the suspects were released after initial investigation.
Rangers arrested 25 of the suspects during a raid in Attaur Rahman Goth. They also seized a vehicle, 14 pistols, three Klashnikovs, three guns, 30 magazines and 15,000 cartridges during the raid.

The report revealed that incidents of target killing were reduced by 56% while murders and street crimes were reduced by 30% since the operation began.
