The World’s Largest Mobile Industry Exhibition

More than 1,700 companies showcased their organisations through exhibition stands and hospitality space across eight halls and outdoor spaces at Fira Gran Via. Visiting the exhibition halls provided glimpses of exciting new phones, tablets, devices, back-end solutions, technologies, applications, accessories, and more.

Between the GSMA Pavilion in Congress Square, the GSMA Connected City, and several initiatives pavilions in Halls 7 and 8.1, the GSMA highlighted important initiatives benefiting the industry, including Mobile Cloud, Mobile Money and Green Technology. Our mobile operator members participated in the first-ever Operator Pavilion, located in Congress Square.

Featured Programmes in the Theatre District

This year, attendees visited the Hall 8.0 Theatre District to participate in 28 partner-led programmes including App Developer Conferences, mPowered Brands Theatres, Forum Series and Partner Events. These programmes were open to all Congress attendees, and were widely attended. We’d like to extend our thanks to our Featured Programmes partners for providing great information and experiences to our attendees.

The NFC Experience

New for the 2013 event was the NFC Experience, a collection of SIM-based NFC services for attendees. Participants were able to create a virtual NFC badge on their handsets to speed their access into Congress. NFC-enabled smart posters around the venue provided access to information and services. Using just their handset, attendees could pay for their lunch, download exhibitor information, and take advantage of coupons and discounts throughout Barcelona. Several thousand attendees even received complimentary Sony Xperia handsets to fully appreciate the NFC Experience.

Mobile World Live

Our award-winning Mobile World Live team were once again on hand to keep our attendees up-to-date on the latest news from MWC in the Mobile World Live Daily and broadcasting live from the event on Mobile World Live TV. The Tuesday afternoon Mobile World Live Keynote featuring Mitchell Baker, chair of Mozilla Foundation, Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu, and Marc Dillon, CEO of Jolla, was streamed live around the globe, bringing a part of Mobile World Congress to those who were unable to join us in Barcelona. You can see the 2013 wrap-up video here. Video highlights and mobile industry news are available year-round at Mobile World Live, so visit today!
