Now Gwadar isn’t something new for the world, but very few know what exactly happening their. Below mentioned facts have been shared during the 7th China Pakistan joint committee meeting about CPEC.
Gwadar Port Progress
Gwadar Port has three multifunctional berths which can accommodate two 50,000-ton vessels simultaneously.
The port can handle containers and other goods including bulk-cargo, general cargo and RORO.
On 11th July 2017, three reconditioned STS Cranes arrived at Gwadar Port, these were scheduled to be operations in November 2017.
On 6th November 2017, two brand-new STS Cranes arrived at Gwadar Port. These five STS Cranes will upgrade the port into higher professionalism.
100,000 square meters’ stack-yard under construction.
250,000 Gallon per day desalination plant.
Gwadar Port is Fully Operational Now, every month, around four vessels call Gwadar Port. Till November 2017. Total 40 vessels arrived.
Next year China’s COSCO Shipping Group plans to open regular container shipping line from Gwadar to all over the world.
What Is Gwadar Free Zone?
Up till now China has invested more than US$ 270 million for free zone construction. All infrastructure, including road, power system, water supply, sewage treatment, drainage system set to be completed by the end of 2017.
The construction of Free Zone Phase I has been under way round clock.
The first Free Zone along CPEC will be inaugurated in January, 2018.
Gwadar Business Center
20,000 square meters, for one-window service, office, conference, bank, accommodation, catering etx will be completed by January 2018. The project was initiated back in November 2016.
Initial market promotion work has been completed as more than 20 enterprises, including bank, insurance, financial leasing, overseas warehouses, fishery products processing, edible oil processing, piping, furniture manufacturing, E-Bike, trading and logistics have already been registered in Free Zone. The total investment exceeds 3 billion RMB.
