Sectarian Violence: Curfew lifted in Kohat; section 144 to continue | PakistanTribeKOHAT – As tension deescalated, curfew has been lifted in Kohat town of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced Commissioner Kohat Amjad Ali Khan on Wednesday.


However‚ section 144 would continue to remain in place, prohibiting holding of public meetings and processions in the area. The local administration has also banned pillion riding.

Security has been put on high-alert to cope with any untoward situation following Monday’s armed clashes and riots in Kohat and Hangu which left four people dead.

Hundreds of shops were also set on fire in Kohat’s Tera bazaar, prompting the local administration to enforce curfew in Hangu and Kohat.
