KARACHI – The law-enforcement agencies on Tuesday detained Mushtaq Bhutto, cousin and former adviser of late Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Mushtaq was detained in a raid conducted by the law-enforcement agencies in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The reason for his detention is clear yet.
“It was around 1:45 am when Bhai Sahib [Mushtaq] and his family had returned from a wedding,” his younger brother Iqbal Bhutto told The Express Tribune.
“He was taken into custody while he was parking the car in the apartment parking lot. He was accompanied by his family members,” he added.
Iqbal claimed that his brother was taken into custody by Rangers.
When contacted, the Rangers spokesperson said that he was checking whether Mushtaq had been detained by Rangers or not.
PPP leaders said they were also trying to trace Mushtaq’s whereabouts. A senior PPP leader told The Express Tribune that Mushtaq’s detention made no sense as he had previously been released after being given a clean chit.
