ECP wants army to supervise ballot papers printing | PakistanTribeISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday demanded that army should supervise printing of ballot papers for local government elections.

In a letter forwarded to the Ministry of Defence, the commission stated that printing of ballot papers is a sensitive issue; therefore, troops should be positioned at printing houses by November 21.

The demand has been made as part of security arrangements, keeping in view the sensitive nature of the task.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Election Commission proposed that Local government elections would take place on January 18 in Sindh and January 30 in Punjab.

The final list of the candidates will be issued on December 26. Also, objections will be filed on January 14 and appeals would be filed between December 20 and 21.

Nomination papers will be verified between December 15 and 19 according to the new schedule.
