Rain Emergency imposed in Karachi

KARACHI – Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert following Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) rain emergency in the city.

According to the Met office, rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected at a number of places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), lower Sindh (Hyderabad, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions) and Kashmir during the next 48 hours, Samaa reported.

Meanwhile, over 100 buildings in Karachi were declared dangerous as the likelihood of rains in the city increased. Lyari and Saddar Town are the areas that have most of these buildings that have been declared dangerous, said a spokesperson for the Sindh Building Control Authority.
