Iran, in recent months, has expressed concern over militants allegedly operating along the Pakistani border. Iran’s army chief recently warned that the country was willing to strike militants inside Pakistan — a threat that drew a strong protest from Islamabad.
Earlier, the Iranian security border forces had fired several unprovoked mortar shelling into Pakistan territory on Sunday. No casualties were reported.
The Pakistan government has made efforts to counter-terrorism in an attempt to manage cross-border movement.
