BIRMINGHAM – Brilliant Pakistani bowling restricts mighty South Africa to 219/8 in the seventh game of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, today, June 7, at the Edgbaston, Birmingham.
South African skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and opted to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket.
Protean openers took a confident start. But Pakistani spinners tied South African bowlers, and then Hasan Ali’s brilliant spell in which he took 3 key wickets, strengthened Pakistan’s grip on the game.
From 40/1, South Africa slipped to 118/6. That was when Chris Morris (28) and David Millers (50) gave some hope to Protease, taking the scoreboard to 165 before Morris mishit one of Junaid Khan’s slower ones.
K Rabada (26) helped DA Millers to take the final score to 219/8 after 50 overs.
Hasan Ali was the best Pakistani bowler, he gave away just 24 runs in his 8 overs and picked 3 crucial wickets.
Pakistan, when come to bat, will require 220 runs to win.
