ISLAMABAD – The Edhi Foundation has been awarded 22nd Nikkei Asian Award in Tokyo for the longstanding social and welfare activities for the general public.
An Indian IT entrepreneur and Taiwanese Virologist were also among those who received the award in their respective fields.
The 22nd year awards were given to those persons who made a significant contribution to the region’s development.
After its foundation by Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1951, the department is a largest non-governmental welfare organization.
Faisal Edhi while receiving the award said that India is violating the ceasefire every day, he emphasizes that countries should take serious action about the methods of India.
Faisal added that peace and harmony could bring vital changes in the life of South Asian people, he thanked Nikkei for organizing for praising Edhi foundation for its work.
Nandan Nilekani, former chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India, has been awarded for leading the development of the country in a biometric identification system.
