The leading messenger Application WhatsApp has announced to stop its services for the following popular smartphones.

WhatsApp will no longer be available on a number of smartphones as the company recommends users upgrade to the latest devices.

The warning was originally issued in December 2016 by WhatsApp that it will stop its services on the older version of phones form iPhones, Android, BlackBerry and Nokia devices.

The Facebook-owned App then extended the deadline with a blog post confirming that WhatsApp was “extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 2017.”

According to Express.co.uk,  the owners of these devices will have to wave goodbye to WhatsApp as, from June 30th, it will no longer work.

WhatsApp understands the news won’t go down well for many users saying: “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.

“If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of June 2017 to continue using WhatsApp.”
