PEMRA serves notice to TV One over Sahir Lodhi show

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show cause notice to TV One over its Ramadan transmission ‘Ishq-e-Ramadan’ on Wednesday.

During the show, the host Sahir Lodhi accused Quaid-e-Azam of the killing of thousands of people during the partition of the Subcontinent.

The Ramadan Transmission violate the  PEMRA Ordinance of 2002, Section 15(1) of PEMRA Rules 2009 and clauses 5, 3 (1) (a) and 17 of the Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.

Pemra has ordered the TV Channel to explain its position over the violation in Ramadan Transmission within 3 days i.e. till June 5, 2017.

The authority also directed the Chief Executive Officer of TV One to appear before a personal hearing on June 5, 2017.

The Ramadan transmission and their content are a matter of concern for the authorities of the country, although the government has taken serious action over the misconduct.
