Turkey Court acquits honor killing suspects

ISTANBUL – Istanbul court has freed two brothers convicted in the honor killing of their sister in Germany 2005, New York Times reported on Tuesday.

Then 23-year-old, late Hatun Surucu was shot on the point blank range three times at a bus stop in Germany capital by her younger brother Ayhan.

The murderers admitted their crime in Germany and were sentenced to nine years in German Jail; the two elder brothers of killer Mutlu and Alparslan are now acquitted from by the Turkish court.

The two accused were earlier acquitted by Germany in 2006, during the trial in Istanbul the ex-girlfriend of Ayhan and the main witness in the case had not appeared before the court on Tuesday.

The two brothers were also accused of helping the murderer but they luckily flew to Turkey and continued to live there for years under no restriction.
