Karachi warned of more load shedding

Karachi warned of more load shedding | pakistantribe.com

KARACHI – Karachi, Hyderabad and cities around have been hit by second major power breakdown in three days, and K-Electric warns there’s more to come.

Given below is a K-Electric statement that maintains the EHT line tripped due to extraordinarily high humidity levels in Karachi and its outskirts.

The high amount of moisture in the air coupled with low wind factor led to reduced transmission capacity.

As a result, K-Electric teams were forced to manage the power shortfall through load management to ensure that the system remains intact and to avoid any major or prolonged breakdown in Karachi.

According to Samaa News,  affected areas included Nazimabad, Orangi, Azizabad, Malir, FB Area, Gulshan, Shah Faisal, Johar and North Karachi.

K-Electric official was of the view that all strategic installations including key hospitals, airport, Dhabeji and Pipri pumping stations were provided with uninterrupted power supply, reported Samaa.

The high levels of humidity are expected to persist in the coming days. In order to avoid any vulnerabilities in the infrastructure, the utility will be continuing with load management spells across the city over the next 2 to 3 days.

However, relief will be provided to all residential customers during Sehr and Iftar, it was further stated.
