EDGBASTON – Pakistan have beaten Bangladesh by 2-wicket in a high-scoring, warm-up game ahead of the main round of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Bangladesh skipper won the toss and opted to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket with small boundaries around.
Though Bengal Tigers lost their early wicket earlier on the total of 27, Soumya Sarkar was the man to go on 17. Tamim and Imrul Kays took off from there to take the game from there to a total of 169, where Imrul got out on 61. The couple added 142 runs for the second wicket stand in just 20.2 overs.
Mushfiqur was the next batsman to join Tamim on the crease, he kept the scoreboard ticking before falling on 46, Bangladesh’s score 219/3. He added 50 runs for the third wicket along with Tamim.
Then Tamim got out on 102, and Shakib could only add 23 runs to the total.
Mahmudullah’s 29 runs down the order and Mosaddak’s handy 26 took Bangladesh to 341/8 in 50 overs.
Pakistan chased that down in 49.3 overs with 2 wickets in hand.
When Pakistan came to bat, they were a little shaky, Azhar got out early, and then Babar returned to the pavilion after scoring just one run.
Opener Ahmed Shehzad (44) along with Mohammad Hafeez (48) took the game ahead. Then Shoaib Malik (72) and Imad Waseem (45) set a platform, but they could not last long.
When Pakistan were 8 down on 249 when last recognized batsman Imad Waseem got out. Pakistan still needed 92 runs off 38 balls.
His heroic innings of 64 off just 30 balls changed the game in last five overs. Pakistan chased down 342 runs in 49.3 overs with 2 wickets in hand.
