DUBAI – The Minister of Justice, Sultan Al Badi on Thursday formed a committee for the sighting Ramadan 2017 moon. 

The committee later announced that the crescent of Ramadan  2017 was not sighted in United Arab Emirates (UAE); therefore the first day of the month will be celebrated on Saturday.

The authorities urged people to sight the Muslim throughout the country to sight the moon of Holy Ramadan on Thursday evening.

When is first Ramadan 2017 in US and Canada?

UAE and, Gulf States and Saudi Arabia and also some North African countries had observed the crescent of Ramadan on the evening of Thursday, now they will start observing the crescent of the moon on Saturday.

In Pakistan, the central committee’s meeting for moon sighting will be held on Friday.

Whereas, the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee of Pakistan has called a meeting for sighting the of Ramadan moon on Friday, May 26.

Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman will head the meeting.

Meteorological Department forecast slight chance of sighting the new moon on the evening of May 26 i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1438 AH, with fair/partly cloudy weather expected in most parts of the country on the day.
