LAHORE – As the festival of ICC Champions Trophy is inching closer, seven Pakistani players have left for England to participate in the event.
Seven players of the squad including Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Imad Wasim, Fakhar Zaman, Junaid Khan and Fahim Ashraf left from Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore.
Other players including Captain Sarfraz Ahmad have already left for England after the completion of West Indies tour. The event is starting from June 1 to June 18.
The tournament will be inaugurated by the Prince of Wales, on Thursday at Oval ground, He will meet with the players of the teams also.
Pakistan will play its first (practice) match against Bangladesh on May 27th and will face the arch-rival India on June 4 in its first Champions Trophy encounter.
The record of Pakistan against India in the ICC Champions Trophy is not good, both teams had played thrice in the international event and Pakistan has won twice.
