Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s latest Ad for Pakistani brand causes outrage

LAHORE – Pakistani brand Kenwood’s latest Television Commercial (TVC), featuring Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has caused outrage on social media.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known for his stellar acting skills and performances on the silver screen.

His recent portrayal of a docile husband in a couple of TVCs for a renowned Pakistani brand has been quite popular among the masses.

However, a recent advertisement of the same brand did not go down well with masses as there was a fierce backlash on Twitter.

In the advertisement, Nawazuddin Siddiqui brags to a couple of friends of his about beating up his wife after she raises her voice to him during an argument.

The ad concludes with one friend pretending that his wife (usually played by Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan) is standing behind him. Nawazuddin is almost shattered with fear and turns around to find out that there is no one.

The joke might have been a funny one but Twitterati did not apparently enjoy the humour in it. Branding the ad as a misogynistic one, people raged on Twitter about how it undermines the issue of domestic violence.
