ISLAMABAD – The federal government of Pakistan on Saturday announced to cut the income of contractually based employees hired for the various project of China`-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) after the denial statement of paying salary made by the finance ministry.

The employees will face a 33pc cut in the salaries, despite that government is increasing the salaries of regularly based employees to 10pc, working on the same projects.

The Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) has shown serious concerns over the paying method adopted by the federal government when it violates the Standard Pay Package of 2009 and increases the salaries over then the written Law.

“The pay of the project staff should be made as per the Standard Pay Package 2009 and was revised from time to time and not on the basis of emoluments approved in the PC-I,” according to a notification issued by the Regulation Wing of Ministry of Finance, as quoted by Tribune.

The administration is looking forward to also regularized the salaries of employees working on the other projects, which affect thousands.
