INDIA-A deadly attack of Maoist rebels take lives of 24 paramilitary commandos and wounded six on Monday, a result of a long-running conflict.
The dead soldiers performing their duty to protect road workers in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh state.
“We have recovered 23 bodies from the spot and one jawan (soldier) died in Raipur during treatment,” Anand Chhabra, a senior police officer, told AFP, referring to the state capital, as quoted by Tribune.
One of the police officers told media that the Indian security forces are searching for the soldiers who have gone missing after the attack.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemns the attack and offered condolence to the families of dead soldiers.
“Attack on @CRPFIndia personnel in Chhattisgarh is cowardly and deplorable. We are monitoring the situation closely,” Modi posted on Twitter, as quoted by Tribune.
The soldier who has survived the deadly attack told media that merely 300 attacked us.
