ISLAMABAD – DG ISPR Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor revealed Monday that terrorist former spokesman of Tehrik-e-Taliban, Ehsanullah Ehsan had surrendered before the security forces and has been taken into custody.
During a press briefing, Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor said that the former spokesperson of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and incumbent spokesperson of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Ehsanullah Ahsan has surrendered himself to security forces, reported Samaa.
Ehsanullah had fled to Afghanistan after Pakistan army launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan. He later quit the TTP and joined the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar which carried out many deadly attacks in the country.
In his press conference, the DG ISPR shared details of the progress made in the Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
“Armed forces have conducted 15 major operations since the launch of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad on February 22. “About 450 suspects and hundreds of unregistered Afghan nationals have been detained during the operation,” he said.
The ISPR chief said 558 suspects have surrendered themselves to the Pakistan Army. “We are fully determined to eliminate all terrorists and their facilitators,” DG ISPR stressed.
He said four big operations were held in Balochistan, eight in KP and FATA. “About 157 suspects were arrested from Sindh, he added.
To a question, he said that it was the collective responsibility of parents to keep an eye on extracurricular activities of their children.
“Rangers operations in Karachi have not slowed down they are moving at the same pace. However, it is important to note that nature of the operation is different in the city, he added.
“Hopefully we will work together for the progress of Pakistan, “he added.
