Chief Justice takes sou motu on Mashal Khan’s lynching

Supreme Court to hear Mashal Khan lynching case from Wednesday |

ISLAMABAD –  Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo motu notice of lynching of a student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, by the mob over alleged blasphemy charges.

Mashal Khan, a student of Mass Communication Department at Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, was beaten, stripped and shot to death and his body was mutilated by a mob of fellow students and university’s employees on charges of blasphemy three days ago.

The notice by the chief justice was taken on a news item published in a section of media containing the details of the incident.

Taking notice of the matter, the chief justice called report from IGP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within next 36 hours.
