TRINIDAD – Excellent last over by Hasan Ali helps Pakistan win the second consecutive T20 against Windies of the four-match series Thursday, March 30, at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
According to PakistanTribe.com’s Sports Desk, Windies skipper Carlos Braithwaite won the toss and opted bowl first straightaway.
West Indies came in the ground without any change in the team, while Pakistan has given Fakhar Zaman a debut.
Pakistan’s start was quite sluggish, losing opener Kamran Akmal in the first over for no run on the board. Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam built a small partnership from there to take the score to 41 when Babar fell for 27 runs.
Shehzad was next to go, on 43, he scored 14 runs. The debutant Fakhar Zaman could not impress much as he could only manage five runs in his first game, leaving Pakistan under pressure.
Seasoned batsman Shoaib Malik along with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed established a 36-run partnership.
He was caught by Pollard on the boundary while trying to hit a big shot. Sarfraz also departed in the next over, with Sohail Tanveer in the same over, Pakistan were 91/7.
Imad Waseem hit a four on the first ball he faced and got out on the next ball. Pakistan were now 95/8.
Pakistan was way behind the average total on the pitch, when a little cameo from Wahab (24 off 10) helped Pakistan to reach 132/10 inside 20 overs.
West Indies started cautiously, playing Imad with the straight bat, and taking on Pakistan pacers. Samuels (44) played a brilliant innings to help hosts get close to the target, but then there was another heroic from Shadab Khan.
He bowled an inspiring spell of four overs for 14/4. His spell gave Pakistan a hope and a chance to return in the game when there was Samuels, taking the game away.
Holder (21) and Brathwaite (14) played responsibly to go more close to the target, after the damage done by Shadab.
Windies required just 19 runs off 12 balls when Wahab cleaned up Braithwaite. The game was hanging well in the balance.
West Indies required 14 off the last over, Sunil Narine stood up to the task, hitting two back to back fours to Hasan Ali. The third one was a dot, a wide, a dot, a runout and a run. Boom. Hasan Ali use of mind bagged another win for Pakistan.
This is the sixth consecutive win of Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmad.
