TRINIDAD – A nasty collision on the field with West Indies opener Chadwick Walton, Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad has been severely injured and taken out of the field on the stretcher.
Shehzad, fielding on backfoot point, hurried in, trying to stop a quick single. That was when he collided with Windies batsman, and his neck got a probable fracture.
An ambulance was brought in the field to stretcher off Shehzad during the second T20 between West Indies and Pakistan.
No official word from the Pakistan management has come yet.
Commentator Rameez Raja has given a word on Shehzad’s injury that “it’s not looking that bad. He’s talking and smiling, hope he gets well soon.”
“Initially, [Shehzad] showed concussion signs and pain within the neck,” Shane Hayes, Pakistan Team Physiotherapist, told ESPNcricinfo.
The injured player was “removed from play and sent to hospital for further investigations” via an ambulance, Hayes further said. “We will know more later regarding the extent of his injuries.”
