KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar has been arrested late on Friday, PakistanTribe.com reported.
Farooq Sattar was arrested from the PAF museum on Shah Rah e Faisal, Karachi, where he was attending a marriage ceremony.
Local media reports are suggesting that Farooq Sattar was nabbed by Rangers in connection with the 22 August speech cases.
According to MQM Pakistan spokesman Ameen ul Haq, Sattar was arrested when he was returning home after attending a wedding at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) museum. He said that Sattar has been shifted to undisclosed location.
Police officials confirmed to Geo News that personnel from the City Division had arrested the MQM leader over controversial speeches delivered on August 22 last year.
Police sources told Geo News that non-bailable arrest warrants had already been issued for Sattar, and that he would soon be shifted to a police station.
