DUBAI – Courtesy to firepower from Henry Chris Gayle in the start of the inning, Karachi Kings beat Islamabad United by 6 wickets and qualify for the HBL PSL 2017 knockout stages at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
Karachi skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and sent Islamabad in to bat. Smith and Duckett started the United innings quite confidently and played their shots freely before Duckett got out on the total of 37. He scored 16.
Talat (12) got run out on 43, and then Watson (2) also returned to the pavilion for the total of 51. Islamabad was reeling. In came Bradd Haddin (20) played some shots along with Smith (49) in the last overs of the inning to take the score to 101/5. Both got out on first two balls of 14th over.
Karachi Kings openers Babar Azam and Chris Gayle started slowly, but then Gayle started hitting United bowlers everywhere.
With five sixes and two fours, he smashed a 17-ball runs to get the advantage in Kings’ favour.
Pollard (20) did the remaining work to not only win this game, but also qualify for the PSL playoffs.
They will face Islamabad United again in the second playoff on Wednesday.
