Seven ‘Earths’ discovered around a star—TRAPPIST-1 | TRAPPIST 1

WASHINGTON – Astronomers have found a single star, around which seven Earth-sized planets are observed surrounding, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced.

According to PakistanTribe science desk, the researchers say that there is the possibility of liquid water; however, it depends on the characteristics of the surrounding planets.

They explain four out of seven planets are quite cold, and they may not hold any signs of life, but other three planets are located in the habitable zone.

The planet TRAPPIST-1 is present at a distance of 40 light years from the earth, as per the science journal ‘Nature’ that these planets have been discovered with the help of NASA Spitzer Space Telescope.

The author of the article published in the science journal says ‘All these seven planets are quite close to each other which is a reminiscence of several moons on the planet Jupiter.

He further said, “Despite the fact this star is fairly small and cold which is why it is possible that it may hold life there due to the existence of liquid water.”
