SHARJAH – Courtesy to Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik, Karachi Kings posted a sizable total of 174/4 in the 13th game of HBL PSL 2017, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy won the all-important toss and opted to bowl first against Kings. The decision seemed to go wrong in early overs as Karachi’s new opening pair extracted 46 runs off the powerplay, without giving away a wicket.

Babar Azam (46) and Kumar Sangakkara (28) got out back to back in the middle overs, and then Chris Gayle (11) returned early too. This was when the run rate dropped down for Kings.

Two new batsmen Shoaib Malik and Ravi Bopara took their time to build the innings. Bopara (30) hit two back to back sixes to Imran Khan Jr, but got out on the third ball.

Malik’s late cameo of 51 runs from just 27 balls was helpful for Kings to post 174 run on the board.
