SHARJAH – After a nail-biting contest, Lahore Qalandars have won the thriller by 7 runs against Karachi Kings in the eighth match of HBL PSL 2017 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
Karachi Kings captain, Kumar Sangakkara won the crucial toss and opted to bowl first straight away.
The decision proved right earlier in the innings as they removed McCullum (0) and Roy (26). Fakhar Zaman played an impressive inning of 56 runs from 36 balls, helping his side to post a good total on the board.
Emerging player from Karachi, Usman Khan Shinwari and fast bowler Sohail Khan bowled impressive last spells to slow down power hitting from Lahore. Amir also bowled a brilliant last over, taking two wickets for just 4 runs to restrict Lahore to 179/8.
Kings lost their way early in the inning, losing both their openers for 20 runs on the board. But skipper Sangakkara (65) and seasoned player Soaib Malik (38) put up a hundred plus partnership to keep the hopes alive.
In an unfortunate development, both got out back to back. That was the moment when Kings lost their way to success.
