KABUL – Juma Al Kaabi, the UAE Ambassador to Afghanistan, who got severely injured in a bomb blast in Kandahar, Afghanistan, passed away on Wednesday.
Five other UAE diplomats also lost their lives in the bomb blast. The bombing targeted the guesthouse of provincial governor Homayun Azizi, who was also wounded in the incident.
According to a tweet sent out by WAM Arabic, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs issued a statement which said: “It is with great sadness and sorrow that we mourn the martyr of the nation, Juma Mohammed Abdullah Al Kaabi, who gave up his soul for the sake of humanity. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
It can be recalled that Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, visited Afghanistan to see to the wounded and was even reassured of the condition of the late ambassador.
The Crown Prince also condemned the attack in a comment he made during the visit.
