LAHORE – The most-anticipated Bollywood movie Raees, starring Pakistan heartthrob Mahira Khan against Indian Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been banned for screening in Pakistan.
The film was set to release on Sunday in the cinemas across the country.
Three days ago, DailyPakistan had reported via its sources in the censor board that the movie was most likely to be banned for its “inappropriate portrayal of Muslims.”
The Pakistani censor board, after reviewing the film for three days, decided that the movie is not suitable for releasing in Pakistani cinemas.
The members of censor board committee while banning the film remarked that Raees did not depict the real face of Islam.
The movie which was scheduled to release on Eid al Fitr last yeast, felt protests and hurdles from Indian extremist after relations deteriorated between the two countries in late 2016.
