PERTH – Australia’s skipper, Steve Smith and the debutante Peter Handscomb have taken control of the game after Pakistan pacers removed both openers early at the WACA, Perth.
Peter Handscomb had a lucky outing early in his inning as he was dismissed for duck by Junaid Khan, unfortunately for Pakistan, it turned out to be a no-ball.
Later in the inning, Mohammad Nawaz, who was on the field in place of Mohammad Amir, dropped a sitter of Handscomb off Junaid’s bowling that gave him another life.
The Australian batsman was too good to miss out on those chances, he capitalised the opportunity and went on to raise 175-run partnership with his skipper.
Smith and Handscomb are still at the crease with 89) and 88) respectively. Australia are 220/2 in 38 overs.
Australia require another 44 runs with eight wickets and 12.0 overs remaining
