PERTH – Pakistan’s talented middle order batsman, Babar Azam became the joint quickest man to reach 1,000 runs along with the West Indian great Viv Richards.

Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, and Quinton De Kock also share the record.

The 22-year old reached the milestone in the 21st inning of his career; he required 47 runs when he came out to bat in the third ODI of the series against Australia at the WACA.

The right-handed batsman looked immensely talented since he made his debut, but, he took the world by storm when he scored three consecutive centuries against the West Indies in the UAE.

Azam, who made his debut against Zimbabwe at Lahore in 2015, scored 360 runs in that series, which is the record for most runs by an individual in a three-match ODI series.

He scored 84 runs off 100 balls before being caught in the deep on one of steeping bouncer from Hazlewood.

Azam revived Pakistan’s innings today just when it looked crumbling early in the innings.
